Guilty pleas in Westside shooting

Guilty pleas have been recorded for two of the three people who led police on a high-speed chase down Westside Road in 2012.

Shawn Adam Wysynski pleaded guilty to robbery with a firearm and attempted robbery with a firearm, and Ashley Collins pleaded guilty to knowingly being in a vehicle where there were illegal firearms, said Crown Counsel Murray Kay.

The third suspect in the case, Michael Edward Ellis remained in custody and will go to trial in September.

He is charged with several counts of attempted murder, several counts of robbery and weapons offences.

Shots were fired from both the stolen vehicle, and by pursuing officers as it sped towards Vernon on July 31, 2012

Collins was shot during the chase and was immediately taken to hospital after a spike belt stopped the truck and everyone inside was arrested.

She has since been out on bail, while both Wysynski and Ellis remain in custody.

The pair who pled guilty will be sentenced later this year.
