Marine rescue for COSAR

A rescue operation was conducted on Okanagan Lake early Tuesday morning after two men failed to return from a day of boating.

The Central Okanagan Search and Rescue team sent out six members and a boat to find the men, who were forced to beach their boat on a unpopulated area of the lake when their motor lost power.

The missing men's situation soon grew more complex due to wind and rain. They used a flashlight and campfire to attract the search party and also had intermittent cell service to alert the group.

COSAR finally found them around 4:30 a.m. near Rattle Snake Island.

The pair were in good condition, and appreciative of the assistance and opportunity to get out of the poor weather ahead of daybreak.
