Conservative MP, Dan Albas, will seek a second term in office in a newly created riding.
Albas was first elected to parliament in May of 2011 in the riding of Okanagan-Coquihalla.
That riding was redistributed from recommendations made by the 2013 Electoral Boundary Commission.
Monday, he was acclaimed as the party's nominee in the newly formed riding of Central Okanagan Similkameen Nicola.
Albas relocated from Penticton to the heart of the new riding in West Kelowna a year ago.
Riding association president, Mark Ziebarth says the nomination process ran for two weeks beginning May 1.
He says voting members of the association were informed, in writing, of the open nomination period.
When nominations closed May 15, Ziebarth says only Albas' nomination application had been received.
"The members of the riding's Candidate Nomination Committee reviewed the application, interviewed the applicant and are extremely pleased to have Mr. Albas representing this riding for the Conservative Party of Canada in the next election," says Ziebarth.
The next federal election is scheduled for October 19, 2015.
