Cops for Kids fundraiser

The local Cops for Kids charity hopes to raise a bit of coin by showing off a bit of chrome.

The charity which raises funds for kids in medical, physical and traumatic crisis in Southeast BC, will be holding its first ever Truck and Car Show.

The event runs from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Truck Plus, located at 2211 Louie Drive on Sunday May 25.

Along with a number of trucks, cars and motorcycles on display, organizers say there will be a kids carnival, dunk tank featuring local celebrities and dignitaries, live entertainment, a BBQ and silent auction.

Five trips to Vegas will be raffled off courtesy of Trucks Plus. A 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser will also be available during the silent auction.

Courtney King, with Cops for Kids, says demand for funds through the Cops for Kids charitable society is increasing each year.

King says demand in 2014 has risen nearly 250 per cent over a year ago.

In 2013, King says 138 requests were made. So far this year, that number sits at 83.

She says more than 90 per cent of all requests are met.

The annual Cops for Kids bike ride runs from Sept. 5 - 14 this year.
