The Beaverdell Fire Department honoured several long time members during a ceremony Saturday.

The award ceremony was attended by Beaverdell chief, Dan Jamieson, Big White chief Jamie Svendsen, deputy chief, Chris Cormack and Area Director, Bill Baird.

Several members were recognized, including:

  • Rolly Martin -10 year pin

Three members received their 20 year Exemplary Service Medals while two also receiving their 25 year British Columbia Long Service Award Medals and 30 Year Bars.

The three long time members have a combined total of 86 years of service, and are still active members in the department.

Lieutenant Judy Oystrick received her 20 year medal and Captain Don and FR Liaison Doreen Gardner both receiving their 30 year Medals and Bars.

It was a very proud night for the community and department," said Big White Fire Chief, Jamie Svendsen.

"Over 40 were in attendance, including founding members, past directors and past and present firefighters, to help honor all the members who received awards."
