Highway 97 reopened

UPDATE 3:00 P.M. 

Highway 97 has now been opened to traffic in both directions.

UPDATE 2:40 P.M. 

The northbound lanes of Highway 97 North have now been opened. Southbound traffic continues to be diverted onto the Pelmewash Parkway.

UPDATE 2:00 P.M. 

The Pelmewash Parkway has now been opened to traffic in both directions but the new section of Highway 97remains closed at this time.

Traffic is be re-routed around the Highway to the Parkway while a possible landslide is being investigated.

The Lake Country RCMP are warning drivers of a possible landslide above the new stretch of Highway 97 between Winfield and Oyama. 

None of the landslide has actually hit the highway itself, but a section of the road has been closed pending an assessment. 

A portion of Pelmewash Parkway has also been closed as a precaution.

Traffic is being diverted to Oyama Road on the East side of Wood Lake.
