Golf course slated for closure stays open

You will be able to golf in Lake Country this year after all.

The Aspen Grove Golf Club in Lake Country will re-open again this spring and will continue to operate for at least a few more seasons until a new school and playing fields are built on the site.

School District 23, which purchased the property last year, has leased the golf course to Lorwal Golf and Turf Solutions.

The golf course had been slated to close permanently at the end last year’s golf season.

The new management team will be Richard Brower, the new on-site manager for the golf course, and Rodi Gorrell, who remains as the golf course superintendent working with Lorwal’s operations manager Mike Riva.

Brothers Mike and business manager Ray have been providing golf course maintenance and operations services to the Okanagan for 14 years.

They currently are the golf course maintenance service provider at Canoe Creek Golf Course in Salmon Arm and also operate the Grounds Guys landscape management franchise in the Okanagan.

The golf course has taken on a new name, now known simply as Aspen Golf Course, and a new phone number (778-480-0062). The new website is www.aspengolf.ca and the new email address is [email protected]

An opening date for the golf course will be announced on the website and the sign at the entrance to the golf course at 10303 Bottom Wood Lake Road.
