Coquihalla could close on short notice
A travel advisory has been put into effect for the Okanagan Connector, due to limited visibility caused by a heavy snowfall.
The area most affected is Aspen Grove to Pennask Summitt, where travelers are advised to exercise caution and consider alternate plans.
There are also reports of compact snow, slippery sections and slushy sections.
Further west on the Coquihalla, DriveBC is warning residents that Highway 5 could close on short notice between Hope and Merritt for avalanche control.
“To safeguard highway users helicopter avalanche control has been tentatively scheduled for Sat, Feb 15th. As much notice as possible will be given for travellers, however the timing and duration of the control is weather-dependant.”
There is also limited visibility from the Great Bear Snowshed to the Coquihalla Summit due to heavy snowfall.
Motorists have been advised to use caution or consider alternate plans if travelling Friday morning.
