Lake Country - A truck is lost & found

A 30-year-old Lake Country man was arrested, and is facing criminal charges after being found behind the wheel of a pick-up truck which had been reported stolen in 2009, from Williams Lake.
On January 21 at 10:40 a.m. a member of the Lake Country RCMP conducted a routine traffic stop, at Camp Road and Davidson Road, with a white Ford pick up truck which the member determined had expired insurance.
The Lake Country Mountie quickly determined that the vehicle's identification number (VIN) did not match the registration papers produced by the male driver. Further investigation revealed the truck had been reported stolen.
The Lake Country man and his 26 year old passenger, also from Lake Country, were taken into custody without incident. The passenger was later released without charge.
The man was also driving without a valid drivers licence and was subsequently issued multiple fines under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The driver also faces a recommended criminal charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 contrary to section 355(a) of the Criminal Code. He was later released from police custody on a Promise to Appear in the Kelowna courts on March 31.
