Lost on a trail

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) members were called out last night to search for two young males that had become disorientated while exploring the High Rim Trail area between Beaver lake Rd. and Postill Lake Rd.

While responding to the call, one of the parents and a friend went into the wooded area to look for the two young males and managed to locate them.

COSAR arrived on scene at Beaver Lake Rd. and were informed that the four of them were now walking towards Postill Lake Rd.  COSAR and the RCMP pinged their cell phone to ensure they were heading in the right direction. The group was monitored by cell phone to make sure they were still okay.

Duane Tresnich, Vice President/Media Relations for COSAR, says the search team changed location from Beaver Lake Rd. to the 4 km mark on Postill Lake Rd. where they met the four males.

"We ensured that they were okay and that no medical attention was required for anyone."

COSAR would like to remind people that if you become disoriented or lost, stay put and call 911.

"Let us come and get you.  Even though tonight had a very positive outcome, calling friends or family to come find you is not advisable.  You might also be putting them in danger and falling into the same predicament as yourself," says Tresnich.
