Provincial grant supports YMCA
Local MLA’s Steve Thomson and Norm Letnick visited the Kelowna Family YMCA Monday morning to present the YMCA of Okanagan with a Provincial Grant in the amount of $175,000.
“The $175,000 in funding to the YMCA will go a long way to supporting programs for children and families,” says Norm Letnick, MLA for Kelowna-Lake Country.
“From after school care to Healthy Kids Day to Silver Lake Camp the YMCA continues to be an integral part of our healthy community.”
Steve Thomson, MLA for Kelowna Mission feels the same way.
“I am very pleased that the YMCA is able to support our local kids and community through the help of the Community Grant program. The programs and facility at the YMCA continue to grow in response to our growing community. I encourage all residents to come check out the Y – a facility for all ages!”
YMCA Board Vice-President Dave Cronquist says provincial support allows them to keep their commitment to, "building healthy communities by providing programs, services, resources and facilities that grow the potential of local children, youth, adults and families.”
