Home saved from fire

Fire caused severe smoke damage to a home in Lake Country Tuesday morning.

Lake Country Fire Chief Steven Windsor says they were called to the home on Ponderosa Road at 8 a.m. after neighbours noticed smoke coming from the structure.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

Windsor says the fire looks like it started in a workshop below the house and had been smoldering for quite some time before neighbours noticed the smoke.

Fire crews were forced to make holes in the house to let out some of the smoke and Windsor says the smoke damage on the main floor of the house is quite significant.

The exact cause of the fire is now under investigation.
