Regional District starts the fall flush
Nov 4, 2013 / 6:55 am
The Regional District is about to begin its fall water main flushing program.
The work is scheduled to take place during the first two weeks of November affecting customers of the Killiney Beach water system. Environmental Services staff will be flushing mains between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Later in November, flushing is also scheduled for the Sunset Ranch and Falcon Ridge water systems.
Roadside notice boards will be in place in advance of work being done in various areas of each water system. It’s important to flush water mains on a regular basis to ensure optimum water quality and remove any sediment deposits that may accumulate over time.
Communications Officer Bruce Smith adds, “When flushing is taking place, water pressure can vary slightly and there may be some slight discoloration in the water. Please check your water prior to use. We recommend that you avoid doing laundry when flushing is taking place on your system. If you experience discoloration, run the cold water tap until the water runs clear.”
Customers will find more information and answers to questions they might have about the Regional District Water Main Flushing Program on the Water Systems webpage www.regionaldistrict.com/water. That’s also where customers can subscribe to receive any important advisories or information regarding their water system directly to their email inbox.
The Regional District water systems service more than 900 customers in the following areas: Falcon Ridge, Killiney Beach, Sunset Ranch, Star Place/Trepanier, Westshore and Upper Fintry, Shalal Road and Valley of the Sun.
