Original Story 11 a.m. Oct 20
A family is grieving today after they reported a family member missing and he was found deceased by Search and Rescue.
The Central Okanagan Search and Rescue team was dispatched just before 1am Sunday to search and locate a missing male who had left Saturday morning to collect the firewood in the James Lake area.
COSAR responded to the area with 6 members, two trucks and 4 ATV’s.
They also requested assistance from CASARA (Civil Air Search and Rescue Association) who dispatched a plane and had it searching the area also looking for the missing male.
After a short but extensive search, the male’s vehicle was located on a side road in the area.
Three COSAR members immediately started a ground search around the vehicle and found the male deceased, a short distance away.
The RCMP and Coroner are investigating.
COSAR would like to remind everyone that if a loved one is overdue from being in the outdoors, you don’t have to wait 24 hours to call for help, please call the RCMP so they can call the closest Search and Rescue group and we can start looking for your loved ones and bring them home.
