Rihanna’s wild life may finally be catching up to her.

While other hard-partying stars are enabled by everyone around them, Rihanna has the rare privilege of having rap icon Jay-Z as her mentor and boss. And according to sources, including one of my own that has worked with Jay-Z, the man with 99 problems works hard to ensure his empire’s integrity is not often compromised.

Closer Magazine is reporting (quotes courtesy of Entertainment Wise), “Rihanna has been out of control for months.”

Apparently the proverbial last straw was the incident where she was supposed to catch a flight but ended up missing it due to having partied too hard at a London bash for Jay-Z and Kanye. To make matters worse, the We Found Love singer even tweeted about missing her flight. 

After missing the flight, RiRi tweeted that Jay gave her the day off. 

However, having learned about Rihanna’s partying, Jay “hit the roof” and apparently declared: “Go to rehab now or I’ll drop you from the label.” Closer’s source reveals that Rihanna feels “she has no choice.”

The source also claims she has “reached the breaking point. She’s physically and mentally exhausted and feeling lost. I think she desperately needs help and some time off. Not just from work but from all the other stresses in her life too.” Also adding to her stress level is the concern for her grandmother who is battling cancer.

First of all, clearly, Twitter should not be Rihanna’s BFF. Her need to use her Twitter account as a virtual brain (and iPhone photo) dump is probably as toxic to her as hanging with Chris Brown.

Can this story be true? Does Jay-Z really have that much power over his empire? My source, who has worked extensively with Jay for over 10 years, tells me that the rapper who played Kelowna in 2009 runs a very tight ship. I’m told that when the whole Kanye/Taylor Swift fiasco went down, Kanye was forced to the doghouse for several months to lay low; Hova didn’t want Kanye out in public too much. Now that Kanye has made his way out of the doghouse, maybe Jay is making room for Rihanna.

Even if Rihanna manages to circumvent a stint in rehab, I’m not sure if Jay would actually drop her from the label. Seriously: RiRi is a cash cow that keeps on giving. Forgive me for the metaphor, but her teats (couldn’t help it) are overflowing with cash and could be milked 24/7 with no fear of ever wearing out. I just think Jay wants Rihanna to know that if she keeps this up it’s gonna be a Hard Knock Life… for her.

And don’t get me started on the Chris Brown thing. TMZ is reporting that the pair was spotted together at Avenue in NYC on Monday night. They both split within minutes of each other, although separately. All signs pointed to a rendezvous later into the night.

I think we need to give up on our hopes that Rihanna won’t go back to the guy who left her with serious scars from a vicious beating. She’s going to do what she’s going to do. Nobody, even Jay-Z, can stop her from Living her Life.

Will she go to rehab? Will she go back to Chris Brown? Will she tweet more nude photos of herself? Will Batman and Robin be saved from the evil clutches of Catwoman?
