They Came By Limousine

From as far away as Cold Lake Alberta they came to experience one of Darren Jacklin’s powerful weekend workshops. This latest delivered on its promise to help supervisors and managers excel in the workplace. You could tell that these managers not only were keen on being good at their jobs, they knew that soon they would be seeing opportunities higher up the ladder. It’s no secret that most companies are looking for employees who measure up for leadership positions and this weekend was a lot about leadership.

Some companies went out of their way to recognize the commitment of their managers. A few of them from one company were treated to a limousine ride to and from the weekend camp. The boss was so impressed with these team members that they were recognized for their initiative and commitment. The boss also knows that what gets rewarded gets repeated.

The workshop was highly experiential and gave the managers opportunities to re-define and/or re-create themselves. Sure they did rock climbing wall and horseback riding though it was in the room they came face to face with their fears.

Visioning was big on the agenda and learning the power behind mastermind groups. People in these mastermind groups get together to help each other and take turns giving their entire attention to one of the members concerns and issues. The intensity is amazing and so are the results.

These managers learned about interviewing, hiring and firing as well as handling angry or difficult employees. They learned about connecting with employees to better understand the source of their anger and to seek out a greater understanding of the employee. They learned the value of compassion and holding a deep respect for their employees and their individuality.

Each person brought something they wished to work on regarding their own character. They learned the value of really connecting with the people in their company. They learned the two greatest character traits of a leader: humility and will.

The quality of a manager’s attitude combined with his or her skills can do one of two things. Either it will bring up the loyalty factor or push that employee right into the arms and employment of your competitor. Today more than ever, managers make the difference and employees are gold.

If you did not attend Darren Jacklin’s Supervisors and Manager’s Camp you really missed out on an amazing experience. You may wish to keep posted on the next camp that Darren is doing. Darren’s workshops are posted on his website.

I highly recommend a weekend camp with Darren for anyone wishing to increase their self awareness and develop the true characteristics of a leader. I was honoured to be there and support Darren in this weekend. I found it to be a growth experience and a source of enrichment. What are you willing to do in order to grow and develop? So until next week, remember: “in only two days, tomorrow will be yesterday, lean into it!” As I offer insights, stories, tips and career information, please contact me to share your stories opinions and comments to Don Campbell.
