A lost hunter who turned up after three weeks lost in the southeast Manitoba bush says thoughts of his family and the hundreds of people who were looking for him kept him going.

Forty-six-year-old Brad Lambert of Winnipeg had been last seen Nov. 15 when he stopped to buy supplies for his deer hunting trip.

Lambert says he took a wrong turn on the wrong trail and got stuck on a muddy road deep in the bush.

He then spent the next 21 nights in his truck with no food and drinking melted snow.

He tried to build signal fires and waved his blaze orange hunting gear to get the attention of passing search planes, with no luck.

Eventually, Lambert says he just starting walking down trails until he came to a road, where he was found.

He says he's deeply thankful to everyone who helped in the search and is feeling fine.
