Funeral for victim of mall roof collapse
Jul 4, 2012 / 10:53 am
Hundreds of people packed a church in Elliot Lake, Ont. today to honour one of the victims of a deadly roof collapse.
Father Paul Conway of Our Lady of Fatima Parish says more than 300 family, friends, and community members came out to mourn Doloris Perizzolo.
Perizzolo, 74, and Lucie Aylwin, 37, were killed on June 23 when the roof of the Algo Centre Mall caved in and plummeted two floors down into the building.
Conway says friends remembered Perizzolo as a good neighbour and devout woman with a strong faith.
Conway says he spoke of the community's need to draw hope from the tragedy.
Outrage over the collapse prompted Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty to order a public inquiry late last week and has touched off a police criminal investigation.
