Life for killer dad

A Toronto father who starved or drowned his daughter to death two decades ago has been jailed for life without parole eligibility for 25 years.

Everton Biddersingh, 60, was sentenced today for the first-degree murder of his 17-year-old daughter, Melonie.

Court heard three impact statements before the mandatory sentencing.

Melonie Biddersingh''s mother and sisters both described the trauma of finding out how she died.

The teen's charred body was found in a suitcase, and it would take until 2012 until police were able to identify her.

The justice in the case said her father was deserving of the most severe penalty allowed by law.
