In-flight hydraulic problem

An Air Canada Rouge flight declared an in-flight urgent situation on a flight from Toronto earlier this month.

The Airbus A319-100 took off from from Toronto June 11, en route to Kingston, Jamaica, with 132 people on board and declared a "pan pan pan."

The message is used in aviation communications to signify there is an urgency on board that, for the time being at least, poses no immediate danger to life or the aircraft.

Aeroinside.com reports flight RV-1802 was about 180 nautical miles south of Toronto, in U.S. airspace, when the crew reported a hydraulic system failure and decided to return to Toronto. The aircraft landed safely about 50 minutes later and was towed to the gate.

The Transportation Safety Board reported the crew received a green hydraulic system low-level ECAM message during its climb.

ECAM is the aircraft's electronic centralized aircraft monitor system, which monitors aircraft functions and relays information to the pilots. It also produces messages detailing failures and lists procedures to correct the problem.

The incident information is from the Civil Aviation Daily Occurrence Report System and is unconfirmed.

Transport Canada says it endeavours to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data contained within CADORS, however, it should be considered preliminary and subject to change.
