Charges laid at music fest

A 39-year-old man is facing serious charges after one pedestrian was killed and two others injured outside of a music festival in southwestern Manitoba.

Christopher Palaschuk was charged Wednesday with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police allege a driver plowed into two people who were walking along the shoulder of the highway near the Rockin' the Fields of Minnedosa festival at about 3 a.m. Monday, then travelled further down the road and hit a third person.

The 44-year-old man from Winnipeg who had been walking alone was treated and released on the scene. A 25-year-old man and 23-year-old woman from Minnedosa were taken to hospital, where the man died.

The woman has since been released from hospital.
