Lost beer blimp found

Labatt Breweries says it has found a 21-metre promotional blimp that broke free from a tether in New Brunswick and later crashed in the woods northeast of Saint John.

Company spokesman Wade Keller says information from a local resident helped guide a small, private plane to the crash site.

Keller says the partially deflated balloon is tangled in trees on private property.

The two-storey balloon broke free on Saturday at about 2 p.m. as it was being lowered due to gusting winds.

The helium-filled blimp has nothing on board other than lights.

Flight officials in Moncton and Saint John were warned about the balloon, and Transport Canada issued warnings to pilots in southern New Brunswick.
