Father, son found dead in wreckage

The bodies of a father and son have been found in the wreckage of a small aircraft that went down near Tofino, on Vancouver Island.

The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre says the wreckage of the Cessna 421 B was found Sunday morning on an uninhabited island five kilometres west of the town.

Cpl. Frank Flock says it's believed the plane went down Saturday night, when it disappeared off radar.

Visibility was poor Saturday evening because of foggy conditions.

The aircraft, which was heading from Alberta to Tofino, with a stop in Abbotsford, was found in a large crater, prompting investigators to believe there was an explosion upon impact.

The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
