UBC’s Okanagan campus is developing key new relationships in Europe with a series of signings of new agreements with prominent institutions. During an intensive few days this week, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Deborah Buszard and Faculty of Management Dean, Roger Sugden are signing new agreements with Imperial College, London; the University of Barcelona; the Basque Institute of Competitiveness – Orkestra, San Sebastián; and Kedge Business School in Bordeaux.
“These agreements are pivotal to shaping the future of UBCO’s student experience and are designed to enhance both research and academic programs. Each of these institutions has specific expertise in developing regional economies through knowledge and innovation,” says Buszard. “These relationships will be extremely valuable as we roll out the University’s contribution to the innovation agenda in the Interior of British Columbia.”

UBC is already enjoying the benefits of these new partnerships. Professor Jacques-Olivier Pesme, director of the Wine and Spirit Academy at Kedge Business School, has spent the past year working with the BC wine community on new collective strategies to move the industry further.
Professors Peter Childs and Dan Plant from Imperial College, London, will pay a return visit to the Okanagan campus later this year to develop new programs in health sciences with UBC. Orkestra is also contributing important content to the new Master of Management program, which will start next year.
