The University of British Columbia Student Union Okanagan will be hosting their fifth annual active chess tournament on Saturday January 25.
The all-day speed chess tournament is open to UBC students, staff and members of the public of all ages.
The event will be held at UBC Okanagan on 3333 University Way in Arts Room #102. This is a five-round format, with round one beginning at 9 a.m.
The entry fee is $20 including lunch, and the UBCO Bookstore will provide prizes. Registration is limited to 30 participants on a first-come basis.
"This is a great tournament to test your skills and gain experience in playing speed chess tournaments," said Greg Bishop, Tournament Director.
"Players that play online will enjoy the interaction and challenge of a live speed chess tournament. Last year half the field were first time tournament players."
