Fall Convocation ’09

Fall Convocation is among the events in October 2014. The celebration of student success is scheduled for Oct. 10 in the TRU Gym, with the procession to start at 2pm.

Following is a list of events at TRU through October, 2014. Because event details may change and events added, please check the online events calendar from time-to-time at events.tru.ca/

Oct. 3

Graduate Student Development Workshops—The TRU Students’ Union’s Graduate Students’ Collective presents two workshops for those doing graduate studies or looking to do so. One workshop looks at data management and the other at breaking the patterns of procrastination.


Oct. 8

TRU Startup Coffee—Meet other entrepreneurs, students, and those interested in the startup life during this informal meeting.


Oct. 8 & 9

Field School In Romani Studies Info Sessions—Learn more about a new field school course in Romani Studies during this information meeting. This course is worth six upper-level credits and has no prerequisites.


Oct. 9

Environmental Sciences Seminar Series—Dr. Heath Garris presents “Wetlands in a warmer world: What field studies tell us and how to use geospatial data to predict shifting landscape characteristics”.


Oct. 9-11, Oct. 16-18

TRU Actors Workshop Theatre launches its 2014-15 season with a play called Patience—Reuben has it all.  Marriage and a family, personal health and vitality enough for killer squash games… Then, his universe tumbles.


Oct. 10

Convocation—About 250 students will receive a range of credentials from certificates to master’s degrees. Renowned adventurer Pat Morrow will receive an Honorary Doctor of Letters.


Oct. 13

Thanksgiving—Campus will be closed for the statutory holiday.


Oct. 15

Career Mentoring For Finance Students—Learn more about the world of finance from those working in the field. Some of the mentors will be TRU Alumni.


Oct. 16

Environmental Sciences Seminar Series—Dr. Cameron Cartiere presents “Border-free Bees: Art & Design meets Environmental Action”.


Oct. 16

Live at TRU! series presents musician Servantes—Enjoy the Latin-flamenco-jazz guitar rhythms of this guitar player from Montreal.


Oct. 23

Environmental Sciences Seminar Series—Dr. Lael Parrott presents, with the title to be determined.


Oct. 24

Fall Open House—Learn more about TRU and its diverse programs, courses, support services, and resources.


Oct. 25

Volleyball Alumni & Friends Mixer—Catch up with varsity volleyball players, coaches, management, and fans past and present.


Oct. 27

Respiratory Therapy Program Information Session—Learn more about the program, the prerequisites, how to enrol, and what career options are possible.


Oct. 29

Tourism Alumni & Friends Mixer—Network with alumni working in various aspects of the tourism industry.


Oct. 30

Science Seminar Series—Dr. Jeff F. Dunn presents, with the topic to be determined.


Oct. 30

Environmental Sciences Seminar Series—Dr. Kelvin Booth presents “Making Environmental Ethics Relevant: Value, Place, and the Wild”.
