Local Now On BBB Board

Bob Taylor, Manager of Corporate Communications (Pacific Region), Canada Post was elected 2005/2006 Chairperson of the Better Business Bureau of Mainland BC at the 65th Annual General Meeting held on May 17, 2005.

In accepting his new position Taylor said, "In today's active and changing world, consumers are faced with many challenges when choosing a company with whom to do business. Whether looking for a specific product or service, the BBB is more important than ever before in assisting consumers to make good choices before they purchase. The tremendous support from our member companies who are committed to a fair and honest marketplace makes this possible."

Rob Woodhead, co-owner of Westwood Cabinets Inc in Vernon and Hubers Kitchen Gallery in Salmon Arm is the first board member to be elected from the Interior. "I strongly urge consumers to use all the tools available to them and do their homework when they buy. It is something I have believed in for a long time, Said Woodhead.

The Better Business Bureau handled over 500,000 inquiries in 2004 with nearly 10% originating from the Okanagan. There was a 50% increase in consumers checking company records and looking for BBB member companies, with a total of 375,000 inquiries, 110,000 buyers tips were also accessed.
