High tech website launches

A technological breakthrough has been announced by a Kelowna company with the launch of its website.

Universal Webcaster president Ken Hartfield made the announcement at the Coast Capri Hotel in Kelowna last week and says the website, universalwebcaster.com, will contain a variety of networks for family entertainment.

He says the networks include one designed as a safe online experience for children.

“Lemur Bay is he most technically advanced kid's website on the planet. We were the first ones to accomplish having talking avatars, so instead of typing in a chat room and seeing a little text bubble appear, ours actually speak,” says Hartfield.

He says Lemur Bay lets kids create their own virtual worlds, talk to friends and family, even put together a rock band of lemurs, all with no loading time between the scenes.

“The reason for that is we engineered the site from the ground up, we've designed it the way we want it.”

Hartfield says another one of their new networks features a partnership with Spoken Translations, an award winning company in the field of automatic cross-lingual communications.

“You'll be able to say something into your smart phone and it will translate it and say it back in another language so you'll be able to learn how to speak it. It's instant, live translations.”

The third network UWC announced last week is an Arts and Education network which involves the implementation of an online 3D animation certificate program, which allows students from all over the world to become certified 3D animators.
