Shaw Hits A Million Customers

On June 14, Shaw Cable topped the one million mark in Internet customers.
Shaw is now giving back to the community of Kelowna through the donation of one year of Internet service to the Downtown Kelowna Boys and Girls Club. The local employees of Shaw chose the Downtown Kelowna Boys and Girls Club based on the valuable work they do in Kelowna.

"Internet access is a competitive business," said Terry Medd, Vice President of Operations for Shaw Cablesystems G.P. "There are a range of choices for customers, and in our markets, more than one million of them have chosen Shaw.”

"We're excited and thankful to Shaw for offering the Downtown Boys and Girls Club free Internet access for one year! This provides Internet access to the kids who come into our club to use the computer lab, and helps our staff redirect those resources into needed programs and services for the kids and families in our community.”, said Kevin Bourchier, Downtown Boys and Girls Club Centre Director.

Shaw launched its High-Speed Internet service on November 12, 1996 in Calgary and began offering High-Speed Internet service in Kelowna in December 1998.
