Canadarm maker's new boss

MDA, the company formerly known as MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, has a new president.

Its parent firm Maxar Technologies ltd. announced Wednesday that Mike Greenley has been appointed as MDA group president.

The company is best known as the developer of the Canadarm, the robotic arm that's on the International Space Station.

MDA also builds satellite antennas as well as surveillance, defense and maritime systems.

A news release says Greenley — who will be based in MDA's Brampton, Ont., office — has more than 20 years experience in aerospace and defence companies in Canada.

He will oversee all of the MDA lines of business and its 1,900 employees.

MDA's operations include its surveillance and intelligence facilities in Richmond, B.C., Ottawa and Halifax; its robotics and automation plants in Brampton, Ont., and its satellite subsystems in Montreal.
