Amazon streams into Cda

Amazon is bringing its video-streaming service to Canada as part of a global launch to more than 200 countries and territories.

The Seattle-based company says members of Amazon Prime in Canada and several other countries will be able to access the service now at no additional cost.

Amazon Prime is a premium service offered by the global online retailer, which sells a wide variety of goods, including books, housewares, clothes and consumer electronics.

In Canada, the Amazon Prime costs $79 per year after a 30-day free trial.

Amazon Prime Video is seen as a new challenge for Netflix and for Bell Media's CraveTV, since all three offer a wide range of television and movie programming over the Internet.

Among Amazon's selling points is a slate of original programming such as "The Grand Tour," "Transparent," "Mozart in the Jungle" that can be viewed on Android and iOS phones and tablets, Fire tablets from Amazon, online and through some TVs.
