North American stock markets posted moderate gains this morning.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 91.15 points at 14,687.67 after nearly two hours of trading.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average gained 70.23 points to 18,156.63 and the S&P 500 rose 12.37 points to 2,138.87. The Nasdaq composite advanced 49.95 points to 5,249.77.
The Canadian dollar was at 76.10 cents US, down 0.06 from Monday.
The November crude contract slipped five cents to US$49.89 per barrel and November natural gas rose three cents to US$3.27 per mmBtu.
The December gold contract rose US$3.70 to US$1,260.30 per ounce and December copper contracts were little-changed at US$2.11 a pound
