Toronto stock market slips

The Toronto stock market was moderately lower near midday as crude oil prices and the financial sector pulled back.

The S&P/TSX composite dropped 15.16 points to 15,203.61.

Energy stocks dropped 0.4 per cent as the July crude contract slipped 85 cents at US$59.87 a barrel.

The June gold contract rose $1.40 to US$1,202.50 an ounce.

On Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 45.85 points at 18,239.89 points, the Nasdaq index rose 4.18 points to 5,094.97 points and the S&P 500 declined 1.95 points to 2,128.87.

The loonie traded at 81.43 cents US, down 0.48 of a U.S. cent from Thursday's close.
