Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Teranga Gold Corp. (TSX:TGZ). Miner. Up four cents, or 5.06 per cent, to 83 cents on 9.6 million shares.
Tim Hortons Inc. (TSX:THI). Restaurants. Up $6.68, or 8.14 per cent, to $88.71 on 6.6 million shares. Miami-based Burger King and private equity firm 3G Capital announced they would buy Tim Hortons in a $12.5-billion deal.
B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down 10 cents, or 3.66 per cent, to $2.63 on 3.9 million shares.
Southern Pacific Resource Corp. (TSX:STP). Oil and gas. Down one cent, or 13.33 per cent, to 6.5 cents on four million shares.
Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 18 cents, or two per cent, to $9.16 on 4.7 million shares.
Bank of Nova Scotia (TSX:BNS). Bank. Down $1.74, or 2.35 per cent, to $72.45 on 4.6 million shares. Scotiabank increased its quarterly dividend by two cents a share after posting quarterly net income of $2.35 billion or $1.85 a share, up from $1.74 billion or $1.36 a share a year ago. However, adjusted earnings were $1.40, missing estimates by a penny.

Bank of Montreal (TSX:BMO). Bank. Up 35 cents, or 0.43 per cent, to $82.16 on 2.5 million shares. The bank reported a third-quarter net income of $1.126 billion, or $1.67 per share, relatively unchanged from the same time last year, but adjusted earnings came in at $1.73 a share, beating estimates by seven cents.
