Pierre Karl Peladeau recovering after bicycle accident in the Eastern Townships

QUEBEC - Parti Quebecois star Pierre Karl Peladeau is recovering in hospital after a serious bicycle accident in the Eastern Townships on Sunday.

The PQ announced in a statement that Peladeau has multiple fractures.

The party says no timetable has been set for his release from a Sherbrooke hospital, but Peladeau says in the statement he's eager to recover and return to the fold.

Peladeau, the majority owner of Quebecor Inc. (TSX:QBR.B) has been considered a contender for the vacant PQ leadership.

But his debut at the legislature will have to wait.

PQ Leader Stephane Bedard says Peladeau won't be in the national assembly when it resumes sitting Wednesday.

The rookie legislature member was elected in the riding of Saint-Jerome in the April 7 provincial vote.
