Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,227.08 up 21.36 points):

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace. Up six cents, or 1.71 per cent, to $3.57 on 6.04 million shares.

San Gold Corp. (TSX:SGR). Miner. Up 2.5 cents, or 11.90 per cent, to 23.5 cents on 5.8 million shares.

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Communication equipment. Up 70 cents, or 6.88 per cent, to $10.87 on 5.5 million shares. Shares of BlackBerry rose sharply amid media reports that automaker Ford will base the next-generation Sync system on BlackBerry Ltd.’s QNX and no longer use Microsoft Corp.’s Windows, starting in 2016.

Athabasca Oil Corp. (TSX:ATH). Oil and gas. Down 22 cents, or 2.52 per cent, to $8.52 on 4.7 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up 44 cents, or 2.09 per cent, to $21.47 on 3.7 million shares.

TransAlta Corp. (TSX:TA). Utilities. Down 47 cents, or 3.47 per cent, to $13.06 on 3.5 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (1,018.95 down 2.71 points):

Petromanas Energy Inc. (TSXV:PMI). Oil and gas. Up 4.5 cents, or 32.14 per cent, to 18.5 cents on 6.4 million shares.

Fission Uranium Corp. (TSXV:FCU). Miner. Up three cents, or 2.34 per cent, to $1.31 on 6.2 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Augusta Resource Corp. (TSX:AZC). Miner. Down six cents, or 1.68 per cent, to $3.52 on 1.2 million shares. The company says shareholders and insiders with about one-third of the company's equity are rejecting an all-stock takeover offer from HudBay Resources Inc. (TSX:HBM) and that it expects the bid to fail. HudBay stock fell 19 cents, or 2.14 per cent, to $8.70 on 547,021 shares.

SNC-Lavalin (TSX:SNC). Engineering and construction. Up $1.16, or 2.45 per cent, to $48.48 on 423,817 shares. The Montreal-based company is hiring a senior executive from Dow Chemical Co. to oversee the company's governance, ethics and compliance efforts as it works to restore confidence in its practices. David Wilkins will become SNC's chief compliance officer on March 1.
