Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets
TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:
Toronto Stock Exchange (13,621.55 up 40.16 points):
Colossus Minerals Inc. (TSX:CSI). Miner. Down 2.5 cents, or 26.32 per cent, to seven cents on 6.1 million shares. The base metals group was ahead 0.77 per cent on Tuesday with March copper up a penny at US$3.40 a pound.
Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Plane and train maker. Down three cents, or 0.65 per cent, to $4.61 on 2.95 million shares. The London Underground transit system is looking for a new solution for a major signalling upgrade that Bombardier Transportation has been working on under a 2011 contract. Bombardier and Transport for London each announced Tuesday that they had reached a joint release agreement, paving the way for London's transit operator to re-let the contract.
Athabasca Oil Corp. (TSX:ATH). Oil and gas. Up 15 cents, or 2.37 per cent, to $6.48 on 2.9 million shares. The TSX energy sector was ahead 0.47 per cent Tuesday, for a gain of about 9.5 per cent for the year. The February crude contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange closed 87 cents lower to US$98.42 a barrel.
Potash Ridge Corp. (TSX:PRK). Miner. Unchanged at 21 cents on 2.19 million shares.
Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G). Miner. Up 79 cents, or 3.55 per cent, to $23.04 on 2.15 million shares. The gold sector was the major advancer, up just over two per cent while the February contract on the Nymex shed early losses to move up $1.50 to US$1,202.30 an ounce.
Baja Mining Corp. (TSX: BAJ). Miner. Unchanged at one cent on two million shares.
Toronto Venture Exchange (931.97 up 10.73 points):
Dunav Resources Ltd. (TSXV:DNV). Miner. Up 1.5 cents, or 25 per cent, at 7.5 cents on 12.1 million shares.
Petrodorado Energy Ltd. (TSXV:PDQ). Oil and gas. Down half-a-cent, or 12.50 per cent, to 3.5 cents on 6.9 million shares.
Companies reporting major news:
Avigilon Corp. (TSX:AVO). Up one cent, or 0.03 per cent, to $30.75. The company says it will pay US$32 million in cash to buy VideoIQ Inc. with plans to eventually integrate their real-time analytics technology into Avigilon's own high-definition surveillance products. VideoIQ is a seven-year-old company based in Billerica, Mass., a suburb of Boston, with 30 employees and 23 patents granted or pending.
ClubLink Enterprises Ltd. (TSX:CLK). Up 15 cents, or 1.55 per cent, to $9.85. The company bought the TPC Eagle Trace golf course in Coral Springs, Fla., for US$3.4 million. TPC Eagle Trace opened in 1983 and has been home to the PGA Tour's Honda Classic for nine years.
Rogers Communications Inc. (TXS:RCI.B). Up 30 cents, or 0.63 per cent, to $48.07. The company's 12-year $5.2 billion exclusive multi-media broadcast deal with the NHL was named The Canadian Press Business News Story of the Year.
Turquoise Hill Resources (TSX:TRQ). Up seven cents, or 2.03 per cent, to $3.51. A class action lawsuit that accuses the company of misleading investors over a 3 1/2-year period has been filed in a U.S. district court in New York City. The law firm Levi and Korsinsky filed the case on behalf of those who bought shares in the company between May 14, 2010 and Nov. 8, 2013.
