Revitalization shopping can be profitable

When is a little inconvenience, no inconvenience at all?
When it could pay for a good chunk of your Christmas shopping.
As a way of reminding consumers Bernard Avenue merchants are open for business and to thank shoppers for their continued support, the Downtown Kelowna Association, is giving you a chance to win $500, to spend downtown.
A draw is held every two weeks. The next draw is Monday, October 22.
DKA Communications Manager, Ryan Watters, says there are two ways to get your named entered in the draw.
"You go to the revitalization area which is basically between St. Paul and Richter, visit any of those businesses and make a minimum $10 purchase," says Watters.
"You will receive an entry form which has a code. Take the code to downtownkelowna.com, enter code and you are qualified."
You can also enter by writing a 50 word essay on why you like shopping downtown. Information on how to enter without making a purchase is contained within the official contest rules.
Watters says each winner has the opportunity to spend the $500 at up to five different stores throughout the downtown area.
"They tell us how much they want to spend at what store and we provide them with a gift certificate."
The contest will run during the times construction is going on on Bernard Avenue and entries are available from those businesses directly affected by each phase of construction.
The final draw during phase one of construction is Monday, December 2.
The contest will resume again in February once a portion of Bernard Avenue closes again.
