Recently I visited a clinic in Kelowna. I noticed that the receptionist had the most amazing eyelashes. Knowing there is a variety of products out there to enhance your eyelashes I couldn’t help but ask her, ”Where did you get those eyes?” She told me about a product called Latisse!
Latisse is a growth treatment for eye lashes. Although FDA approved, Latisse will need to be used under a doctor’s supervision. Latisse makes lash growth possible because of its active ingredient Biamatorprost, used to treat some eye conditions.
You apply Latisse topically to the base of your upper eyelashes daily and will start to see improvement of length as early as four weeks although it will take at least 16 weeks to achieve full results. Lashes will look amazing in only a few weeks, however, if you choose to stop using this product, your eyelashes will gradually return to their former state.
It’s a time-saver, giving you the look of mascara without doing anything. You can choose to apply mascara although it may not be necessary. Think of waking up in the mornings looking fabulous; or never having to worry about waterproof mascara on vacation.
What to expect using Latisse for at least 8-16 weeks:
- Eyelash length increased
- Thickness and fullness increased
- Darker lashes
Latisse may be worth a try if that is what you are looking for. If you are looking for more information try Lakeshore Vein and Aesthetics - they carry Latisse.
Another option would be eyelash extensions.
Eyelash extensions are another popular way to achieve those long, lush, dark lashes. Extensions are comprised of individual synthetic micro fiber coated (polyester) eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. Depending on your lashes and the number of lashes being applied, it generally takes between one to two hours to apply a full set. Extensions should be applied by an experienced technician at a clinic or professional spa. You will also need monthly refills that can be done in as little as 30 minutes to one hour. During the application process you are lying down - some clients may even fall asleep.
There are many spas in the Okanagan who apply extensions. Heather is one of my suggestions. Visit her website for more information.
