Streaks abound for Warriors

The West Kelowna Warriors are hoping they can break one streak while keeping another alive.

The Warriors head into the annual BCHL Showcase event on a seven-game slide.

At 1-8-2-0, their only victory came back on Sept. 13, an 8-5 triumph in Langley.

But, while the team struggles out of the gate this season, they have had a lot of success at the Showcase, regardless of how they have been playing going in.

The team enters this year's event in Penticton on a 10-game Showcase winning streak. Their last defeat, a 6-5 setback to Nanaimo in 2013.

The BCHL made some changes to the Showcase this season, splitting games between Chilliwack and Penticton instead of playing exclusively in the Fraser Valley.

Most Interior Division teams with the exception of Merritt will play in Penticton. They'll be joined by Coastal Division teams Prince George and Coquitlam.

The Warriors will kick off the Penticton portion Friday morning at 10 against Prince George. They'll finish up against the Vernon Vipers Saturday afternoon at 4.

Defenceman Jake Harrison and forward Parm Dhaliwal both remain out of the lineup.

The Warriors next home game is next Tuesday, when the Langley Rivermen come to town.
