Vees perfect, beat Warriors

Rookie Yaniv Perets turned away 21 shots, earning his second straight shutout, as the Penticton Vees dumped the visiting West Kelowna Warriors 3-0 Friday at the SOEC.

The goose egg extended Perets' shutout streak to 120 minutes and 55 seconds, while helping the Vees to a perfect 7-0 start to the season.

Vincent Nardone scored what proved to be the game winner, beating Warriors netminder Brock Baier with a quick shot six minutes into the game.

The Warriors peppered Perets on an ensuing power play, but were unable to find the equalizer.

The Vees got insurance with a pair of unanswered goals in the second.

Jackson Niedermayer doubled the lead to 2-0 late in a Penticton power play, then Colton Kalezic deflected home a shot to close out the scoring late in the period.

Liam Malmquist had a pair of assists in the victory.

The Vees were 1-6 with the man advantage, while holding the Warriors scoreless in their four chances.

Penticton outshot West Kelowna 30-21.

The two teams close out the weekend home-and-home Saturday at Royal LePage Place.
