Warriors drop a close one

The West Kelowna Warriors dropped another exhibition game on the road Friday night in Trail.

Coming off a tough 9-1 loss to Penticton Wednesday, some of the Warriors are still out with minor injuries before the regular season kicks off.

The Warriors' Hayden Gelbard got things going in the first period, putting the puck past Donovan Buskey.

The Warriors maintained their 1-0 lead into the third, until the Smoke Eaters turned things around, notching two goals and taking the win.

The final shots ended 35-19 for the Smoke Eaters.

The Warriors will have another chance at the Smoke Eaters in preseason play at home Saturday, the team's final preseason game. The puck drops at 6 p.m. at Royal Lepage Place.

The regular season begins next Friday.
