Vipers one win away

The Vernon Vipers are one win away from the B.C. Interior Division title in the BCHL, after beating the Wenatchee Wild 3-0 Wednesday night.

The win puts the Vipers up three games to one in the series, and they could seal the deal in Game 5 Friday night in Wenatchee.

The Vipers came out strong in the first period, opening the scoring when Matt Kowalski tucked a loose rebound into the Wild net.

The Vipers successfully killed a penalty during which Connor Marritt had two glorious opportunities, but he couldn’t beat Wild goalie Austin Park.

The home team converted on a power play in the second period as a Michael Young slap shot kicked loose to Connor Marritt at the side of the net, and he slammed home the 2-0 goal.

In the third, the Wild pushed hard, but the Vipers didn't relent.

Vernon netminder Aidan Porter turned away the rest of Wenatchee's chances.

With Park on the bench for the extra attacker, Josh Latta buried one into the empty net to give the Vipers the 3-0 victory.
