Vipers send 'Backs packing

The Vernon Vipers downed the visiting Salmon Arm Silverbacks 4-1 Friday at Kal Tire Place North.

The Vipers set the pace, heavily outshooting their BC Hockey League rivals.

Coleton Bilodeau, Josh Latta, Connor Marritt and Elan Barlevwise all scoring singles for the win.

The Vipers special teams were on fire scoring two power play goals and one short handed marker to send the 'Backs packing.

Matthew Verboon scored the only goal for Salmon Arm.

The win is the second of 2019 for the Vipers who have crawled out of last place in the Interior Division and are tied with Salmon Arm for fifth spot with 42 points.

The Penticton Vees and Merritt Centennials continue to lead the division with 55 points each.

The Vipers will have a day to savour their victory before hosting the Powell River Kings Sunday.

The puck drops at 2 p.m.
