Vees top Silverbacks 5-3

The Penticton Vees bounced back Sunday afternoon, defeating the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 5-3.

The game started poorly for the Vees, giving up a goal just over a minute in. They would, however, equalize eight minutes later after a rebound fell onto the stick of Massimo Rizzo.

Rizzo would score again 55 seconds into the second period after streaking down the right wing, putting the puck through his own legs to get around the defenceman and jamming it towards the net.

The Silverbacks would respond with a goal from Cole Nisse and the game was tied after two, but the James Miller would score just 20 seconds into the third with a slapshot from the right point.

Additional Vees goals then came from Cole Shepard and Andre Ghantous.

The win means the Vees reclaim first in the BCHL Interior Division.

Penticton is now off until Friday when they host the Powell River Kings at the SOEC.
