D-man picks Michigan

Veteran defenceman Jake Harrison has selected the next destination on his hockey journey.

Harrison, 18, has accepted a scholarship to the University of Michigan.

Harrison will suit up for the Warriors next season before the scholarship kicks in for the 2019-2020 season.

Over the span of 164 games with the Warriors, Harrison amassed 18 goals, 83 points and 177 minutes in penalties.

He has eight goals and 33 points this season.

Harrison, along with captain Jared Marino, are the lone remaining players left from the Warriors 2016 RBC Cup championship squad.

“Jake has been a great player here from day one,” said Warriors head coach and general manager Rylan Ferster, “He played key minutes for us when we won the RBC Cup and that hasn’t changed over the last two seasons. His competitive nature is what makes him special.”

“It’s a great opportunity for me to head to Michigan and pursue my hockey career and academic career with the Wolverines,” added Harrison.

Harrison and the Warriors are preparing this week for the opening round of the BCHL playoffs.

The Warriors and Trail meet in a best-of-seven first round series beginning with games one and two in Trail Friday and Saturday.

The series then shifts to Royal LePage Place for games three and four next Monday and Tuesday.
