Vipers blank Centennials

The Vernon Vipers notched a win at Kal Tire Place Friday, blanking the visiting Merritt Centennials 2-0.

Jimmy Lambert and Jagger Williamson each scored for the Snakes while Ty Taylor recorded the shut out.

The Vipers currently sit in top spot of the Interior division of the BC Hockey League.

It will be a retro night of sorts tonight when the Vipers host Prince George at the Civic Arena.

The contest will be the last Junior hockey game every played in the old barn, exactly 80 years to the day the first Junior game was played there.

Todd Miller, Vipers executive vice-president, said the idea to hold one last contest at the historic rink came about when North Okanagan Youth and Family Services Society floated the idea as a fundraiser.

“The game has been sold out for some time, but we may have a few tickets to release Saturday at 5:30,” said Miller, explaining if some of the season ticket holders do not make it to the game, those seats will become available for the general public.

“People should come down at around 5:30 to see if there are any available,” he said.
