Grizzlies maul Warriors

The West Kelowna Warriors were mauled by the Victoria Grizzlies 7-3 Friday night.

The Warriors traveled to the provincial capital for the BC Hockey League matchup to open their Island road trip.

The first period was a wild one that saw seven goals between each side and two goals in a span of six seconds for the Grizzlies early in the opening frame.

The second 20 minutes were much tamer than the first, with both teams barring down defensively and not much coming in the way of scoring chances for either side.

Jared Marino, Stephen Kleysen and Chase Dubois each recorded singles in the loss.

The Warriors will head to Alberni Valley for a Sunday contest against the Bulldogs.
