Ex-Vee invited to WJ camp

For a second straight year, the Penticton Vees will be represented at Team Canada's World Juniors training camp.

Former Vees defenceman Dante Fabbro was one of 32 players invited to Canada's training camp next week.

The camp will run from Dec. 12 to 15 in St. Catharines, Ont., before the World Juniors tournament begins on Boxing Day in Buffalo, N.Y.

Fabbro played for Team Canada at last year's tournament in Montreal and Toronto, where Canada earned a silver medal.

He now is in his sophomore season in the NCAA at Boston University, a school he is attending after two seasons of playing for the Vees, from 2014 to 2016.

Prior to appearing in last year's World Juniors, Fabbro has represented Team Canada twice at tournaments. During the 2015-16 season, he won gold at the World Junior A Challenge and struck gold again at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament.

Fabbro was one of two former Vees who played for Canada at last year's World Juniors, as forward Tyson Jost also was selected.

Jost, now with the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL, is eligible to play again at the World Juniors if the Avs choose to loan him. They will have until Dec. 19 to decide.
