Vipers win in overtime

It took an extra frame to get the job done, but in the end, the Vernon Vipers were victorious over the visiting Langley Rivermen.

Keyvan Mokhtari scored the winning goal in overtime to give the Snakes the 5-4 win and the extra point.

The Rivermen jumped to a 2-0 lead before Vipers' Josh Prokop found the back of the net to bring the Vipers within one.

But Prokop was not done yet, potting his second of the night to tie the game at two goals aside.

Brett Stapley scored in the first minute of the third period to put the Vipers ahead by one. Jordan Sandhu then scored his seventh of the season to give the Vipers a 4-2 lead.

The Rivermen stormed back, scoring two unanswered goals to tie the game at four each, forcing the over time period.

The Vipers will now have a couple days off before heading south to face the Penticton Vees Friday.
